Formation Committee

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul members, please follow this link to access the training resources:  Formation and Resources

We believe that informed Vincentians are spiritually dedicated Vincentians who apply their spiritual and temporal training and knowledge to their actions as they go about their work helping those in need in their local communities.  They continue to fulfill Frederic Ozanam’s wish to “embrace the whole world in a network of Charity.”

Our committee members are representatives from each of the 5 Canadian regions. The Formation committee has a focus on researching, developing and making available educational and training materials and programs that enhance and support the work of conferences and councils and their members.  It is our objective to collect and review all existing training resources and whenever possible, to standardize resources so that all levels of the Society have access to the same information.

We maintain a data bank of updated resources, materials and courses available within the Society in Canada, and will post these resources on the National website.  We regularly review and update educational material and promote Orientation/Screening Program for New Vincentians.  We contribute articles and updates on our plans and activities in the Vincenpaul magazine and in person at meetings.

Currently the committee members are reviewing all resources including out sourced courses and regional training materials.  The committee is also preparing to develop a “train the trainer” curricula for a variety of modules.

If you have any educational or training questions or you have ideas about how we can augment our training resources please email us at formation@ssvp.ca.
