Housing

Houseless to Housed

Throughout Canada, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is actively responding to the Housing crisis, currently the greatest cause of poverty in our country; our mission is to practically resolve issues, one neighbour in need at a time, and give voice to the voiceless.

Thanks to our active members’ presence across the country, our approach is uniquely locally customized, to deal with each community’s different needs. Our Society is active on multiple fronts:

Preventing Homelessness

Surviving Homelessness

Brant program

Halifax Emergency Shelters

Temporary Housing / Shelters

Multi-Unit Subsidized Housing

HomeShare

Congregate/ Rooming Homes

As a national organization, the SSVP is also advocating for the voiceless and actively working towards building awareness of the impact of Guaranteed Basic Income, supporting the efforts of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) and the Canadian Housing Evidence Collaborative (CHEC) and working on Indigenous Housing Rights, amongst others.

The SSVP is now appealing to Canadians who feel powerless to help their neighbours in need. Funds will be allocated based on donor priority or direction, to ensure that those without homes can imagine a brighter, safer future, and those in transition can move forward.
