We are sorry to announce the passing of Michael Burke, former President of the National Council of Canada. He left us this morning, surrounded by his wife Margo and his five children. Michael was an active and devoted Vincentian in his city of Halifax. He served as Vice-president of the National Council from 1995 to 2001, and National President from 2001 to 2007. Sincere condolences to his family, his friends and the entire Vincentian family.
The SSVP National Council acknowledges the location of its office on the traditional, unceded territories of the Anishinabe Algonquin nation. In doing so, we acknowledge our responsibility to the Algonquin people and a responsibility to adhere to Algonquin cultural protocols.
