DECEMBER 12TH, 2018 FEAST DAY OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER IN SOLIDARITY WITH INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Our Blessed Mother Mary first appeared to Juan Diego, an indigenous man, living in Mexico on December 9th, 1531. This date is also designated by the Catholic church in Canada as the National Day of Prayer in solidarity with indigenous peoples. I would remind all Vincentians to please pray for solidarity with our indigenous sisters and brothers as we continue to grow in our knowledge and awareness of the culture, traditions and faith of indigenous people in Canada. While our recent efforts with our North of 60 with the Inuit people and our 1st Nations efforts in Cadotte Lake and James Bay are examples of how we work collaboratively there is much more we can and should do to improve relations. Please join us in prayer on December 12th for future solidarity with indigenous people.
