The Saint Vincent de Paul Conference of Abejorral (Antioquia, Colombia) shares the main actions carried out thanks to the support of the York South Particular Council, its twinning partnership.
Feast of Saint Vincent de Paul
On September 28, a Mass was celebrated in honor of their patron saint at Nuestra Señora del Carmen Parish.
On September 29, members organized a gathering with beneficiaries, including a recreational afternoon, personal development talks, and refreshments.
Home renovation
In October, the Conference completed the full renovation of house no. 13 in the El Tejar neighborhood. The work included repairs to the roof, bathroom, kitchen, and floors, renewal of the electrical, water, and sewage systems, and complete repainting. This provided a dignified home and better living conditions for a family in need.
Home visits
Members continue to make monthly home visits to the families they assist, offering support, companionship, and a better understanding of their needs.
Young Vincentians’ activities
The youth group organized an activity with beneficiaries, sharing a snack (rice pudding and cookies) and an afternoon of games and fellowship — continuing the legacy of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam.
Social and medical assistance
The Conference continues to support low-income families by providing:
- transportation assistance for medical appointments in Medellín and other towns,
- medications not covered by the public health plan,
- and financial help for funeral expenses.
Finally, the Conference expresses its deep gratitude to its twinning partners, whose generosity makes these actions possible, and invokes the blessings of God, St. Vincent de Paul, and Frédéric Ozanam upon them.
