Two wonderful milestones have been reached with the Registered Education Saving Plan (RESP)/Canada Learning Bond (CLB) portion of the Seeds of Hope (SOH) project.

The Seeds of Hope project equips Vincentians to be the link from awareness to access to resources, services and opportunities under the 3 pillars of Health, Education and Wellness (HEW).

By maturing our role as Informed Navigators, we can walk alongside our neighbours in need to a healthier and more sustainable condition.

There are 2 causes of exclusion; financial poverty and information poverty (quote by Nicholas Barr) and Vincentians can continue to work together to learn how best to reduce this exclusion.

One of the SOH projects under the education pillar is making the families aware of the Canada Learning Bond opportunity, which provides up to $2,000 of federal funds into an RESP.

The statistics show that any funds saved for post-secondary education greatly increases the odds that a child will go on after high school as the funds create an educational identify early on.   Unfortunately, almost half of the children across Canada are still missing out on their hope filled funds, but that is where Vincentians can come in.

As of today’s date, we have helped raise awareness and access to the Canada Learning bond opportunity, helping 1,001 children nationally get access to up to $2,000 of educational hope.

That equates to up to $2,000,000 of available federal funds that have been accessed to improve educational outcomes.

In Halton (Oakville, Burlington and Milton) as of today’s date we have helped 504 children gain access to up to $1,000,000 in educational hope.

So now we will set the next milestone at 1,250 children who can hopefully receive this hope with our help.

Every child deserves hope for a brighter educational future.  No child left behind!
