Last Saturday, November 12th, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) celebrated its 170 years of foundation in Canada. Indeed, on November 12th, 1846 was established the very first conference of the SSVP in Canada.
To mark this important anniversary, Mr. Jean-Noël Cormier, National President of the SSVP of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Marc Vaillancourt, President of the SSVP of Quebec, and about twenty Vincentians, attended a mass celebrated in the Basilica-Cathedral Notre-Dame of Quebec, where the very first conference was created in Canada.
During a supper following mass, Mr. Cormier handed a certificate to Mrs Roula Hadchiti, President of the Marie-Guyart Conference at Laval University, Quebec City. She was a finalist at the annual Founders’ Award of the Youth International Commission and, to highlight her significant involvement in the Society.
