Dear Vincentians,

The National Council of Canada resumed the sending of funds to the National Council of Haiti. An inter-bank transfer was made on September 25, 2019. Vincentian colleagues in Haiti confirmed the receipt of the funds, however, cannot distribute the contributions to the recipient councils and conferences at the moment because of a volatile situation across the country.

We keep in touch with the National Council of Haiti and you will be informed by Nicole Schryburt, administrative assistant twinning, as soon as confirmation is received that the funds have been distributed.

Since the month of August street demonstrations, often violent, take place every week in major cities of the country whose objective is the resignation/dismissal of President Jovenel Moïse. The government is paralyzed and insecurity reigns. Schools are closed.

Thank you for your patience and prayers during this difficult time in Haiti; people living in extreme poverty are the most affected by the disorders.
